• Laurie & Chris’ New Year’s Eve Wedding

We planned, catered and coordinated Laurie and Chris’ destination New Year’s Eve wedding which became an extra special event for a number of reasons. Chris’ family owns a villa on the ocean just south of Vallarta where the couple had enjoyed vacations which was also large enough to host wedding festivities so it made perfect sense that this would be the location for the big day. The couple had visions of a timeless wedding in white with hints here and there of black, fuchsia and green but also wanted to share some of their favorite things about Mexico with their guests. The Mexican elements of the wedding were a full mariachi band playing as Laurie walked down the aisle, a Mexican menu created for the couple by our chef Juan and, of course, late night tacos!

We were thrilled when Laurie and Chris fell in love with our friend Michelle Turner‘s portfolio and hired her to be their wedding photographer. As you can imagine there can be some difficulties with planning a wedding on NYE but everything was prepared to go off without a hitch- UNTIL the couple arrived in Puerto Vallarta the day after Christmas to some shocking news. The night before their arrival an electrical fire had broken out in the family’s villa and although the structure itself was fine there was smoke damage to much of the furniture so the villa couldn’t be used for their vows which were set to take place just a few days later. We met with the couple that evening and put our heads together to create a “Plan B”. Contacts were called but very few villas are available for rent last minute over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays as Banderas Bay is a very popular vacation spot.

As luck would have it privately owned Hacienda Palo Maria was available and the owner agreed to rent the villa out for the wedding. Vendors were called and schedules were changed and three days later we were walking down the “aisle” with Laurie and Chris during their rehearsal at the beautiful backup location. Laurie and Chris never lost their cool and were able to enjoy every minute of their wedding day with their family and friends. In fact the wedding photos were submitted by Michelle and chosen to be featured on the Style Me Pretty blog!
